Early Life and Education
Born into a prosperous business family in Kathmandu, Salin Man Baniya is the grandson of renowned producer and director Prem Baniya. He completed his schooling at Galaxy Public School and pursued his higher secondary education at ACE Higher Secondary School. Later, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) from Uniglobe College.
Career
Salin began his career in modeling, earning the title of Mr. Commercial at House of Fashion and participating in various ramp shows and fashion photoshoots.
He made his acting debut in 2017 with Jharana Thapa’s romantic drama A Mero Hajur 2, starring alongside Samragyee RL Shah. The film set a record for the highest single-day box office in Nepal, grossing NPR 16.2 million.
In 2019, he played the lead role in Yatra: A Musical Vlog, a musical drama where he starred alongside Mallika Mahat and Salon Basnet. While the film received acclaim for its subtle story, it earned approximately NPR 4 million at the box office.
As of 2025, Salin is working on upcoming films Laure and UOG – University of Gundas.
Personal Life
Salin is in a committed relationship with Asprina Shrestha, a professional makeup artist. The couple has been together for several years and often shares glimpses of their relationship on social media.
Entrepreneurship and Other Ventures
Beyond acting, Salin has ventured into entrepreneurship. In 2017, he launched his own fashionable men’s clothing brand, Banmania. In 2023, he co-founded a Korean restaurant named ‘Korean KINI’ in Basantapur, Kathmandu, reflecting his affinity for Korean culture.
