Early Life and Education

Shree Krishna Shrestha was born to Radha Krishna Shrestha and Jagat Kumari Shrestha in Bagbazaar, Kathmandu. He was the youngest among his six brothers. Shrestha completed his schooling from Modern Indian School and later graduated from Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Tribhuvan University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.


Career

Shrestha began his acting career with a supporting role in the film Bhumari (1991). He gained prominence with lead roles in films like Naata, Maiti, Afno Manche, Gorkhali, A Mero Hajur, Upakar, and Sukha Dukha. His performances were lauded for their depth and authenticity, and he was particularly known for his dancing skills.

In 2008, Shrestha produced and starred in Kaha Bhetiyela, which was a significant success and marked the debut of actress Sweta Khadka. His final film, Kohinoor (2014), also produced by him, became the highest-grossing Nepali film at the time, earning over NPR 100 million.


Personal Life

Shrestha married actress Sweta Khadka on July 7, 2014. The couple had met during the filming of Kaha Bhetiyela and had been in a relationship since then.


Illness and Death

Shortly after their marriage, Shrestha and Khadka traveled to India, where his health deteriorated. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and bone cancer. Shrestha passed away on August 10, 2014, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi at the age of 47. His death was a significant loss to the Nepali film industry, and he was cremated with state honors in Kathmandu.
