Early Life and Career

Born in Dhangadhi, Nepal, Biraj Bhatta began his career in the entertainment industry as a model and later transitioned into acting. He made his acting debut with a supporting role in the Nepali film Khukuri (2003), which performed well at the box office. He also appeared in supporting roles in films like Unko Samjhana Ma (2001) and Pauju (2002). His early performances, especially in action sequences, garnered attention and set the stage for his future as an action star.


Rise to Stardom

Between 2008 and 2011, Bhatta starred in numerous successful Nepali films, including Himmat, Kismat, Khal Nayak, Sisila, Agni Jwala, Ilaka, Itihaas, Taqdeer, Arjun Dev, Dosti, Naina Resham, Giraftar, Himmat 2, Dhoom, Sapoot, Naya Nepal, and Darr. His portrayal of Deva in Khal Nayak (2008) earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor.

In 2008, he ventured into Bhojpuri cinema with Lagal Raha Ae Raja Ji, which marked the beginning of a successful career in the Bhojpuri film industry. Over the next few years, he appeared in over 80 Bhojpuri films, earning the title of “He-Man” of Bhojpuri cinema.


Directorial Ventures and Recent Works

In 2019, Bhatta made his directorial debut with the Nepali action-drama film Sanglo, in which he also starred alongside Nikita Chandak. The film was a commercial success, grossing over 8 crore against a 2 crore budget.

Following the success of Sanglo, he directed and starred in 12 Gaun (2024), which also featured his son Samir Bhatta in his acting debut. Released during the Dashain festival, the film received positive feedback from audiences and became a blockbuster, grossing around 20 crore at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing Nepali films of all time.
